Case 580M Backhoe Series 2; S/N 6C402832Problem with intermittant no-start condition. Next problem relates to shifting; with unit engaged in forward gear, no shifting can be accomplished thru the 4-speed shifter on the fly; speed change can only be effected if forward gear is put back in neutral position, gear shift done, then forward gear engaged again. As I am unfamiliar with the operating characteristics of this unit, is this a normal thing. I WOULD NOT THINK SO. So far have found a seemingly faulty SPST shift switch at top of gearshift lever; this must activate a solenoid switch to port hydraulic pressure to the clutch throwout bearing, allowing a shift, as I see it. Without a wiring diagram, I really can't tell for sure, however. Am also curious about the "Micro" limit switch activated by the accelerator pedal linkage. Is this an interlock of some kind. I am an automotive, diesel and FAA licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic who had this problem thrown at him on a somewhat emergency basis. Any help would be appreciated, short of telling me to get some manuals, which I know. Many thanks. Pete Magnuson
