Got the engine pulled out of the SC the other day and mounted on the stand. Still need to get my hands on a sleeve puller to get the sleeves out to replace them. (If anyone has one they would like to lend, that would be great!) I also need to know what I should do with the sludge in the clutch housing. There is a little bit in there, and I was thinking I should get it out with some brake cleaner (that typically works good for cleaning sludge). Do any of you have any opinions on this. Will I run into trouble? Also, would like some advice on rebuilding the brakes. I am getting some oil drips out of them when the tranny is full. Will i need to replace some shaft seals, or would it simply be a bad drum gasket?

Thanks all!

I would first try something a little less agressive than brake cleaner, like diesel fuel. I have a sleeve puller, but it is pretty heavy. Where do you live? There should be a weep hole on the bottom where your drum meets the tractor housing to let out oil before it gets to the brake housing. Run a wire up in it to see if it is clear. There is no drum gasket. Email me if you need brake advice.

I live in MN, north of Minneapolis. I don't have the means to access the materials to make a sleeve puller, much less the disc that goes on the bottom that needs to be machined to the correct size from what I am told.

I'm in WV. Try Don Livingston 507-433-0073 mornings in Austin, MN. He may lend you a sleeve puller. He also sells reconditioned main bearings.
