OK head is off and it appears that the number 2 cylinder is the one that is stuck and mybe #3 #1 and 4 are in good shape with no indications of rust in them whatso ever. # 2 had alot of rust on the head and also the cylinder walls. #3 just appeard to have that mud dobber nest in it but no rust ont he cylinder walls. #1 ,2 ,3 all have carbon buldup on the piston top and #4 does not..... ..any reason why the diff? So I have it soaking in wd-40 and will pick up some penetrating oil when I run to get hog feed today..... ....does anybody know where I can get gaskets for this..... Exaust (2) head and valve cover and maybe how much it will cost me..... like I said I am struggleing right now and can't spend a whole lot to just get this running for my grandfater before he dies.....he is 83 now and I sure hope I live up to his expectations..... he raised me as my parents were never there for me and ANY help would be appreciated so very much..... .thank you

wayne

SHE IS HOME!!!!! ! A couple of hours? WoW that would be awsome but you know I probably believe you could do it Tom..... ..well here I go with the biggest project in my life..... ..lots to do and I really want to get this going for grandpa..... .Now money is my only issue..... (anyone want to donate some gaskets? lol )..... I took off the valve cover and none of the valves are stuck....they all opened and closed really good execpt one and that one is being held down by the rocker arm..... The plugs came out really easy and a quick peek revealed an old mud dobber nest in the cylindet second from the left and the other one to the right of it had a couple of spiders in it..... .the outside two I could not see anything..... ..So I guess I will have to remove the head tomorrow to clean them all out..... .in the mean time I squitered a liberal amount of WD-40 in each cylinder hole and then went around and was able to loosen the manifold bolts..... so far so good I guess..... ...am I right on anyof this..... .please help as I am a novice at tractor restoration and willbe asking ALOT of questions here..... .THANK YOU!!!..... ...I will pst pictures as soon as I find out how..... ..... ....Wish me luck..... Wayne

Yeah, sounds like you're on the right track. Since you probably have the head off by now, take it to napa and tell them you want a valve job. After you let the pistons sit under oil a little, then see if you can turn it by engaging the pto or belt pulley and turning clockwise. if that don't work, you may have to take the oil pan off and loosen the connecting rods.

Brake fluid and PB Blaster work great for freeing up a stuck engine. Put some down the cylinders.

Why old oil? I'd shoot a can of pb blaster penetrating oil into the cylinders through the spark plug holes and file the pionts for starters. Good luck and have fun. I found my Pap's old tractor but it was too far gone!
