The hood on my 1945 VAC will not close completely as it lands on the top of my fuel tank. The hood and sheet metal all appear to be unmodified. I can only guess that the tank has been replaced with a later & larger tank. Does anyone have the original tank height dimension handy?

Thanks mj. My tank measures 17 1/2" high. The 1/2" must be just enough to interfere with the hood. I wonder if I have a later, larger tank?

Yeah, an extra 1/2" would make it pretty tight on most off my tractors. I measured 4 or 5 and the 17 was the max. How much padding does yours have under it?

mj, My padding looks minimal just the single layer of woven fabric material, about 1/8" thick, on top of the lower mount.
