Hey guys, first I know nothing about Case tractors, wrong color for me. BUT, I have a oppertunity being handed my way and need some help.

Short version, friend called "come look at this tractor I'm gonna scrap". Guy he got it from son had some money issues and stoled the batterys) and the radiator, and the lettering of this tractor, so the old man was mad and sold it to my friend and hes gonna scrap it.

What I need to find out is if I can get it running. Here's what I can offer so you guys can help.

Looking at pictures here on ytmag it's got to be in the 60's to late 60's, bigger than a 530, not near as big as a 930. Its a four cylinder Diesel. There's a high and low range on the shifter, showing 8 speeds, decompression valve on the engine, no alternator, generator starter combo. There's a hydraulic clutch? And a lever that connects to it as well. I guess high and low?

What I tried to do tonight was pull start it to see if it would fire, but, the engine will not turn over. Is this to do with the hydraulic clutch? Whats the trick to pull start, or what kind of voltage is required for a tractor of that style, 12 or 24 .

Theres no tags on the tractor anywhere so this is about the best I can do. I did not think to take the camera and get a picture, but, I did not thing a deal was going to fall in my lap. If I can get this to fire than I fix it and use it on the farm, if not off to the scrap man.

Thanks

Aha, maybe it's not the wrong color after all! Don't those early Case Diesels sound nice?

With a high low shifter I would assume a dual range 730/830 case-o-matic. Do the 800's have a hi/low? But the 800 had the nice Case lettering to rob off. I'm just leaning towards 730/830.

Sounds like you might have an 800 case-o-matic diesel. You can not pull start it. Tractor should have eagle hitch. If it is loose you will need to start it with the starter. E-mail me some photos and I can make a better guess.

If your friend does not want it, before you send it to scrap put a photo ad of it here on this site and sell it to someone who would like to restore it. Scrap prices for complete tractors are running about $.03- $.05 a pound so try to determine what the scrap price of it would be and sell it for that. I am sure someone would take it off you hands. According to the Tractor Data site the 800 weighs in at 6,200 lbs. This would put a scrap price at about $310. I am sure if its in half way reasonable shape with just a few parts missing, it would bring at least $500 just for a parts tractor.

Its a 12V tractor, stick a battery from one of your cars on it and see if the engine will turn over. This information would be useful to a potential buyer.
