Now that an interesting piece... Is the ball on top metal or something else? I thought it was a 930 shift lever that someone cut off and threaded, but now I'm not so sure?????

BTW the cap(bearing cover or whatever you want to call it)for your blade is still available through Danuser. I don't remember what the price was but seemed kind of pricey at the time.

The ball end is steel and is flat on the sides. Works good for thumping the tiresthird party imagethird party imageI know I need to start soaing the bearung inder the cap as it looked bad under it. I was surprised to see bearings, thought it just turned on another shaft.
Did you figure out how to post pictures yet

Yes, I posted something in the test area. I need to take the pictures of the blade, however right now it's hooked on the tractors with mud all over it. I need to take some time and wash her off. Also my dad dropped a bunch of his stuff in my shop this weekend, now his stuff will have to be moved before I can back the tractor out. It's the story of my life, can't get one thing done because something else has to get done before starting the project, and the other project can't get finished because the first something is still in the way.

Anyway, if you are going to replace the bearings you will need to cut the top bearing off with a torch. I doubt very much if you will be able to drive the shaft down through the bearing. And you sure don't want to mushroom the end of the shaft. You might be able to get a big chunk of oak and beat on it a while, but you will probably split the wood, oh and good luck finding a volunteer to hold the wood while you are swinging a ten pound maul.
