I knew I had a problem, just didn't realize it was that bad. I thought maybe I could make a JB Weld patch till I took the cover off.

This is what you get when you trust the local auctioneer to get a good description of a tractor. Was told it was a really good tractor. just needed a little carb work. What I found was gas tank over half full of hay.
Back to my problem. Bigger gap than I figured on. Hmmmm, and he only had two bolts in the plate.

Now I can see why only two bolts holding the plate on. Is this a common problem with the tractors with eagle hitch?????

Question?? I thought about taking JB Weld and mixing it steel wool? Thought I could screw a bolt in covered in plastic and trying to mold a new bolt hold?? Or am I nuts ????

Other option I have is to pull the pack end off and put another back housing on. Option 2 is I have a DC-4 with eagle hitch that has a stuck engine and missing hydraulic pump, making one out of 2.

The engine doesn't seem to run to bad. I think a DC-4 with heart shape front end might be a better outfit. Open for suggestions???

I should have updated pictures as to my quick fix. I am afraid for a good fix I"ll have to put new rear piece to fix it right. Am trying to put it back good enough to sell. Not sure if I would trust it to handle heavy load. Maybe if I got the right plate cover and reinforce the thind link bracket like someone mentioned. Pictures tomorrow.

Thanks for all the replys and advice. I didn't even think of using studs. I have no plans of using the eagle hitch at this time, but never know when a person will need to. I have another DC for that.

I am concerned about the correct way to hook the third link? In the one reply talks about using pto connection which is fine for non pto work. My concern is since the third link is offset under the seat and is solid, how will this effect hooking up to rotary mower since I need a thrid link arm?? On the other hand my post hole digger needs a clevis type to be connected to the tractor??. Anyone have problems usung post hole digger with eagle hitch. I been using it on my 800 but i need to drain it for the season.

I have been using a NH finish mower on my DC for several years. I picked up a second top link mount (O9195AB Bracket mounting, adjusting screw, upper) one is mounted to each side of the cover plate. Have to use a longer than normal pin but haven't had any problems and added a 1 in spacer bar on each side to get better clearance between PTO Shaft and top link.. Note that that the geometry is wrong (top mount point is too high) and you cannot lift the rear of the mower deck off the ground. I can live with that, if you can't (need to transport your mower longer distance etc). you can modify the mast on the mower to make it higher.

Find someone that has a powder torch(and knows how to use it). I saw a Rep. from AirGas at a farm show this summer, he filled up a gap in an exahust manifold in about 5 minutes. Thread a piece of copper and screw it into the hole(s), after the build-up unscrew the copper and you've got new threads. My e-mail is open if you want his card.

As long as there are no cracks in the case just parts broken off any good welder can build that up and then you can re-drill and tap it out to what it was. Its always nice to save an old part for these old tractors.

had same problem 30 years ago patch with jb weld to seal oil make new plate going fordward to 2 bolts on rear of transmission housing and extent plate to rear of hyd housing , make vertical bracket down catching 4 bolts around pto shaft. Forget about using the 4 bolts which you are having trouble with. For 30 years now have hauled large round bales dirt blade and snow removal . A little hard to ajust pto clutch but worth the aggravation. weld new eye for top link on horivintal plate

If i was going to fix it i would put 4 stud bolts
in it and weld them with nickol rods. don't let any buckshot get on the in side. WEld it slow 1/2
or 3/4 inch at a time and peen it after each weld
Let it cool after each weld... L A

agreed on proper fix ..Learned the hard WAY HERE.Keep wary eye for conditions less than favorable for EAGLE HITCH . What caused this probably was a centerlink running at a 45angle when fully down on subsoiler or plow ,When implement raised it simply pryed the top off tranny , Have Been told That ,VERY Top link location was only intended for Case cultivator ., If You need the pto hog snout top link part ,,Others on this forum may be able to help locate ,however , With a picture of part the Good welder that repairs the top of Your tranny can make the Part . Best Wishes, Jim

I have repaired similar breaks to this by placing
a SOFT bolt in the correct position where the original stud was, then fill in the missing
piece with weld as previously advised (welding the the bolt in place in the proccess).
When welding is complete, drill out the soft bolt and fit a thread insert such as a helicoil. Use a machinable cast rod.
