I am well aware that you are not supposed to use the PTO when in reverse. I want a magnum, but I found a 1570 that fits the budget much better. This will be my only cab tractor for now, and I want to use it on the snowblower. The service manager at my dealer said he wouldnt worry about it in my driveway. Its when they sit on a blower or something for hours at a time and the powershift lever is in rverse. One guy in my neighborhood has a 1570 he bought new, it is all he has ever blown snow with. Never any trouble with it. Although he said his brother in law has a 1070 powershift also blowing snow, and has had trans related problem because of it. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance. Rob

If you had to back up a long way, like a half mile or something, stop and put powershift in 1 for a moment, then proceed in reverse. Its strictly a lubrication problem when doing stationary pto work.

I think the way the powershift is designed, the outside drum is stationary when in reverse and not turning and throwing oil, thus lubication when turning the pto shaft is a problem. I'd have to read the repair manual though to know for sure. Should be ok for short work...but not for long periods of time.

I worked for a guy who had 2 case tractors that had that decal in the cab. We loaded load after load of liquid manure with them for years with a pto pump and used the 2390 on the blower in the winter (had one of those 540-1000 pto adapters for it.).I seen that very same 2390 at a local JD dealer the other day.I know that the guy I worked for traded it years ago.The notes that I wrote in the late 1980's and early 1990's in the operaters manual in that side storage pocket were still in there.Brought back memories.Any way the point is I know of one that has done a lot of pto work and is still going.

Now that you mention it, my 770 has the same decal and same instructions in the owners manual.Cahess, wont you need to run the tractor at rated PTO speed? Whe I use my snowblower, unless the tractor is wound up, it doesnt throw the snow very far at all. This was my only hang up for buying this tractor. Im looking forward to the power! I ran one for a guy when I was in high school. That tractor had power at idle. Rob

My 1370 has a decal by the PTO lever that says "Do not leave powershift lever in reverse while doing STATIONARY PTO work" I dont think snowblowing will hurt at all.

I believe you find the operators manual says when doing stationary pto work not to be in reverse.

We had a1070 an had it on blower with it in reverse an did overheat shim at rear of p shift- had to replace a50cent shim but had a lot of work replacing. However as you said that was on blower at full throttle an dont know how long. I would think on snow blower it would deepend on time you use it an how fast you run engine. I HAVE 2390 an would like to do same thing as you but only have seen 540rpm blowers so i think it would be ok as i would only be partial throttle for short spurts.Tough call!!!
