1030 Brian I hope you see this what code of red did you use on your 1030 it looks so awesome. When I go to the paint store they show two codes for the flambaue red and they are both called power orange or power red. I am not sure which one I should use. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check on the paint and restoration forum at this site. Cnks has researched this topic and has all the paint codes for multiple suppliers. They are automotive paint numbers as he would not use the old technology alkyd paints. gobble

Yes you want the flambeau red. This is correct for all 30 series and older tractors. Good luck! -Brian

I have an article from Old Abe's News that gives the real low down on all paint used by Case. Data in this article was provided by Case's Hinsdale Engineering Center, courtesy of Eldon Brumbaugh, retired chief engineer for Case. The paint code for flambeau red is a Ditzler number, which I don't know if Ditzler still exists, is PPG 71282. The article states that flambeau red was still used on early 70 series tractors, along with desert sunset, up until midway thru 1974, when the paint scheme changed to power red and power white. If Ditzler is not available, NAPA(Martin Senour) has a very close match, # 99L3727. The article states cleary that Power Red and Flambeau Red are NOT the same color, even though Case dealers will say it is. Power Red is redder and flatter in shade. Hope this info helps, if you want this article for yourself, I could probably scan it and email it to you. Good luck! Todd

The cream color is called desert sunset. I get all of my paint at an auto paint store. They had to custom tint the desert sunset because none of their books showed it. I took my nose cone in, and the underside was still in excellent shape so I buffed it out and they took a "picture" of it w/ a special gun. This matches the color to one stored it its program, then they custom tint that to match. I remember the color matched up to a cream from a 75 Volvo car color! It came out perfect. I have the formula if any needs it, its from the Omni line. Good luck ! -Brian
