Hey everyone I just picked up this lil gem last weekend and I"m getting ready to start working on it. I know right off the bat that it"ll need one rear wheel and a battery tray. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also this has the hand clutch and I thought I read sometime ago on here that there was an option for a foot clutch. Any Ideas?
Thanks all,
Larry

Hi Larry , Congrats on Your DC ,, We have 3 runninng And one parts ,, we work them on this farm , Have a late 54 ft clutcher and a 52 hand clutcher , Both have live power 3 pt hitch , If it were Me I would not trouble myself to swap yours to a ft clutcher... Keep in Mind I have been driving a hand clutch since Dad brought in a 49 when i was 10 ,.Everyone who Sees these 2 today LOVES the novelty of a hand Clutch I prefer the Live power hand clutcher for daily work , When stopping for gates on and off , picking up hay , baling , or balerproblems , Simply yank clutch , lock brake , hop off , hop on ,ride clutch into motion without so much as touching the shifter ,Long hot days , all extra effort saved is good ,, My 54 ft clutcher is OK , But Case had problems getting the tension on the clutch pressure perfect , It is not over center stlye like its earlier brothers ,, it gets awkward and tedious while backing wagons and maneuvoring in tight spots , Seat is probably incorrect , engineered , for clutching My legs are not LONG ENOUGH ,however when cruising and feild working non stop FOR 8 HRS OR MORE ,I feel like Donald Duck with No plaCE TO PARK MY LEGS. jUST WANTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH YOU , Best regards , Jim

Jim,
Hey thanks for the info on actually working one of these. The biggest difference between you and I is that I have NEVER driven one with a hand clutch... Sounds like I need to learn. LOL
Thanks again,
Larry

Larry if the clutch is on the left side as it should be for 52 and newer DCs see the post directly below yours. The parts you need are available at this source.

I looked it up yesterday and tried to post but the entire thread disappeared. Your tractor is a 1953, the last year of production.

I guess I forgot it was under photos rather than a regular thread.

Tom thanks for the info. I'm working on getting the manuals so that I can start the restoration process with at least a lil bit of smarts. I really don't think that it's going to take all that much to get her in tip top shape. But I'm going to start with running condition/tune up first.
Thanks again,
Larry
