Hello! I looked up the information about an 1175 on here, which was very useful. Now, I'm hoping you can give me your opinion as to which tractor (an 1175 or a 1030) is better made. Personally, I'm a fan of the 30 series, but realize that those might not be the best tractors ever built.

A friend is looking for a 100 hp tractor with a 1000 rpm PTO to hook to his feed grinder and other chores like that. Someone in our area has an 1175 (don't know the hours or condition) for sale and they are asking $5000, which I think is high.

So, if you have any thoughts, we'd love to hear them! Thank you.

I'd take the 1175...20 more hp, easier starting, reversible pto, less problems with head cracking, better brakes. The JD dealership here has one for sale that I would be interested in if not for the $12,000 price tag they have on it. Maybe they think it's green! ;-)

Had an 1170, which is similar to the 75 and had a 1030. Hands down to the 11, starts much better in the winter, better operator controls, reversable pto ( 1000-540), and actually runs on less fuel than the 10.

Thanks to all of you! I always learn something on here that I didn't know before, that a 1030 doesn't have the 2-speed PTO.

Have a great weekend!

We have a 1170 witch is all most the same as 1175,I know of a cupple 1175s around, good solid unit , But Handel like there half out of Control,You point it like a Locatamotive [ train ]I think they should have Never made them, sence they did not have Power shift Transmission !the 1270"s and 1370"s are much nicer. I would go for the 1030 they are much better handeling tractor.

I would vote for the 1175 by just a nose. It does have more HP, is just a little better in the brake area, has both 540 and 1000 PTO, will start easier in cold weather, has outboard planetaries to handle the higher horses. Just a good tractor all the way around. Don

don't quote me on this cuz i MIGHT be wrong, but i don't thnik tha 1030 has 1000 RPM PTO unluss us use an adaptor, but the downside of the adaptor is that it spins all the equpiment at the speed of 540. they are 100 RPM for a reason. at least my 1030 don't have 1000pto but some might. but all in all the 1030 is nicer. it may not have hydralic brakes or clutch but they sure are nice!

OK, we know the 1175 is newer. Probably has a cab, but not always. If I was using it on a grinder, would consider the 1030, especially if the 1175 is a cab tractor. Kind of a pain in the behind to crawl in the cab to throw the PTO in a hurry if something starts going wrong. Kind of nice to be able to just reach the PTO in a hurry. Having said that, if cold and snow is an issue and need to clear out aisles between bunkers, MIGHT consider the 1175 if it has a cab. I think the 1175 may be a little easier to start when cold than the 30 series if everything is working right on it. Otherwise a starting fluid start thru the intake will be similar on both. I have a IH 1066 back in NE, cab tractor, Ford 5000 here, no cab, have worked at Case, Case/Ingersoll industrial, and Case/IH dealers, so no stranger to the habits of the different Case tractors. Either one would be good, just needs to decide which is more comfortable for his needs. DOUG
