My local Case whiz has the right idea, to build brackets on the RH side as he has done on several, closer to the starter and easier to get to. In the mean time, he is running 3 or so weeks behind before he can get to it, the batteries are almost toast that are in it. At the temps we are having now, it needs to crank more than 3 or 4 seconds before it starts, do have it running right now, as did yesterday. This is the old yeller cab I just got here from Indiana, sounds good, just need to get it what it needs, stuff like the batteries, radio, light switch and one cab flasher, one mirror, new radio, all the filters as preventive maintainance, etc. Was wondering if I could just cut the front end out of the battery box with a torch to slide the batteries out one at a time until I get them moved, and hold new ones in with a bungee cord/baling wire accross the end to hold them in? As mentioned, will start with help from battery charger/booster, but not going to put up with that for very long. My Ford 5000 diesel has seen the last of it's snow pushing days, tired of freezing my behind with no cab. DOUG

That is basically what we would end up with, at least very similar. Also, some of the other posts are questioning battery access, would be OK if I had someone to help me lower the box, but I'm just not up to handling two batteries in a box under the tractor with one hand while starting the box mounting bolt with the other hand anymore. I am thinking about digging my old transmission jack out from the corner of the barn and seeing if it will go high enough to handle the batt box. DOUG

DO NOT TORCH IT!!! If the batteries are letting off any gasses they could blow up! The boxes should slide right out the front to get the batteries out. DK

Please don;t mount the batteries along the frame there's enough 13's in the salvage yards to get a box. Pull up the panel above the batteries unhook the cables then pull off the little panel in the cab or floorboard area in front of the box and you can get your old box out.

Why not mount along the frame rail? We have converted all our 70 series to have the box right by the starter. Much easier to change batteries if you have too and the cables are shorter.

Is the battery box stuck? It isn't that hard to remove if it isn't. And you can hook the charger up at the starter rather than the batteries which would be much easier. What part of IN did it come from?

It came from Hartford City, was at some point at Case Power and Equipment in Lebanon, as it has their dealer sticker on it. DOUG
