I posted a picture of my 48 VAO in the "tractor photo" section of this site. Sorry I am not smart enough to get the picture on this Case specific forum but I will [hopefully] put in a link to the picture. If someone wants to post the pic here, feel free. Over the years, it has been swimming many times in flood water and was in sad shape in 1994 when my father in law bought it. I was able to unstick the motor then and it was used on a small hunting farm until 2003 when the motor gave out and the tractor was given to me with the stipulation that it must be fixed up and fixed right. In March 2005 I tore into the Case wanting to have it ready for the national Case show in Lathrop, MO. It was a VERY busy three months but it was ready and made its debut on its 57th birthday, June 18 2005. [according to the casting date on the axle housing] The tractor only has one coat of paint as I was short on time. I also cheated and bought another tractor just to get a good running motor which turned out to be less than half price of a rebuild kit! [My engine building skills are on the questionable side] When I went to pick up the tractor in '94 the orchard fenders were in the rafters of the shed, but all the other orchard tin was long gone. I made new orchard shields from the picture in an original owners manual I found at a flea market and they turned reasonalby well. I am somewhat better at paint and bodywork than engine internals. The tractor is NOT restored but is in proper operating condition with a complete paint and detail. Its no wonder everyone threw away the sheetmetal on orchards! There is no way to see where you are going unless you stand up. I hope you enjoy!

Kris:

What a fantastic job you did fabricating the orchard sheetmetal for the '48 VAO. The tractor looks great! I purchased a '48 VAO last year and have been looking for orchard sheetmetal to fully restore it. Did you make patterns? And, would you be willing to sell patterns or contract to reproduce another orchard set?

I look forward to hearing back via e-mail; RobertCrista@cox.net or phone; 480-415-1015.

Thanks,

Robert

I enjoyed seeing your tractor. Really nice. Thanks for showing it. Lots of hard work went into doing that.
