1954 Case SC - Hydraulic problem

We have a 1954 Case SC tractor with a dual control hydraulic pump (assembly part # A6071A). We were plowing snow last winter using the eagle hitch and a 7ft blade. After stopping for lunch, the tractor would no longer lift the eagle hitch. We have since replaced the fluid and filter in the hydraulics. It will lift the eagle hitch very slowly if the tractor motor is running wide open, but if you put any weight on the hitch or move the hydraulic lever to the neutral position, the hitch will move to its lowest position and stay there. Before this problem started, when the hitch reached its highest lift point, the hydraulic lever would return to its neutral position automatically. It no longer does this either. We seem to have hydraulic pressure to the other single remotes located on the rear of the tractor. Does anyone know what may be wrong?

If i understand your problem correctly it sounds like a problem with the valves (balls and springs) in the control unit. Y
