Does a 164 gas engine have a pressure relief in the engine lube system? We have a 500B that has no oil pressure according to three different gauges we have put on it. The engine is pumping oil to the rockers and will blow oil 20 feet out of the oil line connection on the block with the line unhooked. Engine sounds good with no knocks and no smoke. Thanks.

Yes, there is a pressure relief valve built into the oil pump. To get at it the pan must be dropped and the oil pump pulled. There is a cotter pin in the pump that holds a cap, spring and the valve plunger in place.

Your problem acts like something else though. If it will blow oil 20 out the connection at the block there are only two things it can be, the instrument panel gauge itself or a plugged oil line to the gauge.
