Took to old L to Jerry Kirsch in Boswell Indiana to adjust the timing and when we got back the hood was Gone! We pulled the trailer with one of my work trucks with a box on it and you cannot see the tractor at all when going down the road.

It was a very windy day and we were going right into the wind. We have never had any problems with the latches on that hood and hadn’t been off in months. We drove all the way back looking in the ditches (about 45 miles one way) no luck!

Anybody got a hood for a ’38 L that they want to part with?

Thanks,

Dave Olson – East-Central Illinois

Hey, I bought a late model "L" at the Bridgeport auction just to keep it from going to the smelter. I didn't need it or want it, but it had a starter, so I sold it t "Bridgeport Tractor". The sheet metal was excellent, so unless they've sold it, I imagine they have a hood. LOL!

Look at it this way or at least hope you can. You didn't see it hit a car and kill some one so maybe at least your money ahead having to find another one. Some one probably saw it laying on the side of the road and now it will end up as scrap. Sad but now days thats part of how life is

old,

You bet I'm sure glad no one got hurt. The latches were very stiff and hard to release did not even occur to me that it would come off!

Those latches were never made to secure the hood in 50+ mph wind. I supposed you know what to do the next time.

There was a fellow that passed away a few years ago, John Davis, from Ohio that was reproducing hoods. I don't know if anyone took his inventory / pattern and kept selling them or not. Betcha Don Livingston would have one...
