the crank broke just in front of the center crank journal. the thrust bearing surface in the block is all chewed up. That is why I need a engine or crank and block

Somebody at some time ran it with the PTO release lever locked back.

what is wrong with the engine you have. The 1212 has a completely different injection pump, they put up 72 horse power. If you put a 1200 engine in you will have less horse power.

what is wrong with these david brown engines. i have a 1410 diesel with crank broken in same place and the block on center bearing is screwed up. anyone know where i can get a crankshaft and block or complete motor for 1410 case/david brown diesel? thank you Larry Garretson Garretson2@hillsboro.net am located central Texas

Like i said earlier, DO NOT run engine with PTO release lever locked back for any length of time. The pressure it takes to release the PTO clutch is exerted across the thrust washers and they can't take it for any length of time. Plus if a DB crank is turned, the radius in the corner of the journal has to be ground correctly or it will break.

so it wouldn,t be safe to run this tractor using a baler, grinder or pump?
