I've got a 400 case Diesel with a problem. I was discing with it the other day and it just slowly lost power all of a sudden to a complete stop. It can be restarted after a few minutes. Plenty of fuel. Filters changed, and plenty of fuel to the injecter pump(American Bosch.) It will start, run fine, then stop like its not getting any fuel. All the lines are tight and everything is bleed out over and over with no air coming out of all the bleeds. Is there anything I could check with the injector pump? NOW what puzzles me is it sat for 2 days and I noticed fuel in the crankcase. I have never heard of that one before. Any ideas, or is it time for the boneyard? Thanks for any and all help. Leon in MN.

leon. on top of the injection pump is your return line in the fitting that screws in to the pump is a glass check valve these some times become pluged
an need to be replaced. fuel in the crank case is caused by bad seal in the pump on pump shaft no problem to change if you know how other wise get some one who knows how i would't have the pump rebuilt as this is a farily common problem with this style pump ben.

Leon;

No expert, but sounds like the transfer pump part of the fuel injection pump blew a seal and isn't pushing the fuel through the filters. That's probably why you're getting it in the crankcase too, probably running past the bad seal into the crankcase. Sounds like a job for your friendly Case dealer, they should be able to get you going on that, might as well have it rebuilt as long as it's out, get ready to say goodbye to a few Ben Franklins....
