Just got a VAC from an elderly gentleman, All pretty original, with a buzz saw and a John Deere #2 mower. The battery was out, and he insisted it was a negative ground system. We got it running, but when a dead short occurred in one wire to the generator, I noticed the ammeter was reading full CHARGE.Is this supposed to be POSITIVE or NEGATIVE ground? The tractor has "gum dipped 45 degree Firestones" Is it possible these ore the original tires? They only look a few years old, having no checks or rotting. They are worn enough to indicate they could have been on there for a decade or two. Still lots of meat to provide traction though. Anyone have a source of an original looking Oil Pressure gage and a decent hood that hasn't been run over? Any thoughts on whether to restore this or keep it original? The paint is pretty well shot, but it has never been repainted, and you can still see the shadows of the original decals. I'm kinda leaning towards leaving it alone, as it looks neat the way it is. Thanks!
