Brakes on my 480 E stopped working after setting
for about a month. No pedal at all, rebuilt both
master cylinders, still no pedal.Could the cylinders above the brake housing be causing
the problem? Also noticed a housing bolted to
the right brake housing, with a hose attached to it.Don't know where to look next, hate to take
it to dealer.Thanks.

Did you bleed the brakes? They are not easily bled. Make sure both reservoirs are filled with hydraulic oil and then find the bled screw on the top of each brake housings.

If you take the line loose at the master cylinder that goes to the brakes and cannot get them to pump oil out at that point, you may still have a problem in the master cylinder. I know they agrivating, but they can be bled. The last 580 super e that I worked on, I had to take the bleed screws out at the brake cylinder to bleed the brakes because the bleed screw had some crud in them.
