I still cannot get fuel into the engine. I replaced the filters, bled it according to the book, and nothing. I even cracked open the chcek valve on the back side of the injector pump and bled it there, but it will not pick up. I also towed it in high gear. It ran before it ran out of fuel. Does anyone know what the transfer pump pressure should be? It has the American Bosch PSB pump. What else can I check without taking the pump out?

GOT IT RUNNING-THANKS FOR ALL the help. It wasn't the fuel bleeding after all, the govenor rod (mounted on the pump, inside the access cover) was stuck and was stopping any fuel from getting to the engine. It was 20 degrees in MI last night and it still started (with a little either).
Thanks Again

Have a 800 case and I changed fuel filters on it and thought i would never get it started. I had to loosen injector lines at the injector pump and once I got fuel there I loosen the lines at the injectors till I finally got it started
Good Luck
Tom

Owen-

If you haven't already, try cracking the high pressure connections on the fuel injectors and cranking the engine at full throttle. May help to decompress the engine to save batteries. If it ran completely out of fuel, there is probably air in the injector lines giving you fits. You should see fuel spurting out from the fittings when cranking. If you get this, tighten up lines and try starting it. Let us know how you make out. I have a 401 diesel, and know EXACTLY how you feel right now. If you're SURE you have the filters bled out good, make sure the bypass valve on the first stage fuel filter is shut when you are trying to start it.
