I am in the market to buy a 1030 case tractor I have two of them sitting next to each other, the difference is one front end set,s out infront of the tractor body by at lest 14 or 15 inches the other one has the front end well under the body giveing it a more compact apperence. The two tractors are the same in all other things .My question is are these front ends the same just reversed .The tractor that has the long front end is the one I want to buy,the other (short front end ) has cracked block and a bnad crank shaft,Any help that you could will help me make up my mind if I want this long tractor or not.I am not familure with case tractors I just need alarge tractor

I have a 1030 case comfort king. I still use it in the field and farm. Runs great for the year it was made. I would probaly sell it. The one back fender is bent up but other than that ever thing still works good. It has the long front end.

Did you ever buy the case tractors?

I would like to find a 1030 to buy.

As for your question - on the row crop versions, it is possible to turn the front end around so it sets further back - we have a 930 Comfort King set up like this - it has it's pros and cons - turns shorter, but it is easy to switch back.

front end setting further back on the western special was that way so it will turn faster in the field. western special was made for field use and had things like no pto 3point hitch unless ordered extra , big fenders was for the bigger tires , not nessary but they did it that way.

Tom,

The long wheel base is a row crop model and the short wheel base is known as a western special. The rear wheel fenders are completely different looking aren't they. I really do not know what the purpose for them being different is.
