The gas gauge on my Case 1494 with a cab is stuck past full and will not register right. It goes right up past full as soon as you turn the key on,and down fine when you turn it off. i ran it out of fuel, and once I got it going the gauge was stuck and stays up. This is a real pain in the butt. I've tried tapping on the tank, hitting bumps very fast but nothing seems to work. I eben tried filling the tank up till it ran out the filler twice but it did not help any. What now?

Chances are your sender in the tank is bad. Disconnect the wire that is on the center terminal of the tank sender(insulated terminal) and turn on the key. Ground the wire to the tank. If the gauge moves all the way to one direction and all the way to the other direction when disconnected to ground the gauge is ok. Replace the sender.

Would it go bad that fast?It was working good until I it ran out of fuel. Then it started reading overfull after I only put one 5 gal can in it to get it running again. The gauge goes up and down when I turn the key off and on. It only does not read how full the tank is right.
