Have a 1972 Case 470. Has a 4 speed tranny w/hi & lo range. Per shift pattern on tranny, Rev is to lower left. Pattern shows a S or 5 right above reverse. What is this as shift lever will not go there. Tractor has PS pump and its resevoir together. Other day fluid was running over the fill spout so I sucked it down to full mark on dipstick. Today I can't touch fluid. Removed filter, it is clean. What is the problem here?
One day overfull & next day very low.

I will check more on the starting explination.
It also has a safety switch on top of the tranny.

First time tractor had been setting a week or so & I noticed fluid overflowing out of the PS fill pipe. I then removed some fluid & run the tractor several times over the next 2 or 3 weeks. One day with it shut down the dip stick would not reach fluid. No visible leaks. Will put filter in and re-assemble reaevoir & fill w/fluid & see what happens.
