i have a friend who has a case 311 b c that needs to know some specs, ie engine displacement, hp, ect. also he says the fluid in the rear axle housing has to be pumped from one side to the other. some one told him that the return hole is stopped up. any way for him to fix this? the plate he brought me has some numbers on it : 311 - b - c

If it is a gasoline engine, it is a 148 cubic inch engine. It is around 20 horsepower. The engine is very similar to the Case VAC engines. I don't understand the rear axle fluid problem. The hydraulic lift on the back can leak fluid into the rearend, if the seals on the lift are bad.
