Took the LA with the 4/71 plowin SUNDAY on half mile rounds at the local plowin bee. It just plays with a 4- 16 inch plow. The tractor weighs 10,000, runs at 2200 at no load, and has 4 forward speeds. I went 14" deep in 3rd gear and at times got it to 2000 rpms and went 9 mph. WHAT A DAMN MONSTER! Then went to 1200 rpms 10" deep, the rest of the day to keep speed/ depth the the rest.
I also had my 500 diesel and 4-16's plow that did just fine. Back to the shed they go for the MN. winter.
One was a rush and the other was relaxing. Don L....Rusty Acre tractor parts
{I prefer the 500 overall}

I saw an LA set up like yours with a Detroit motor
at the Pennfield IL show in July 2000. Impressive. I too have a 500 (sn 8037453), and have spent many hours on her pulling 4-16's in black dirt. I love the sound of that 377 when its working hard.

They had about 20 tractors there, about 6 or so in the field at any one time. There were my 2 Cases, the only Cases there.
About 6 JD's , 3 of them were diesels who REALLY smoked BAD , 2 were 730's and one R. I know for sure the R was turned up. One styled D.
One AC B with a 1-18 plow, This tractor followed my furrow when I sunk to max depth for 30 yards. He thought he was gonna tip over, and said that would of been embarassing.....[God I laughed on that one!]
One MM G6, with a 5 bottom, that run nonstop allday, Plenty of power there also. 2 Oliver 77"s and 88 diesel Farmall SW6, SM, M ,706, One Ford 601

That 4/71 sound like fun , l would put 90 injectors in it. Then she would sound net, The HP on that 55hp with 90,s about 65. And take the muffer off and run staigth pipe , she jumps a 7hp more .
