I just bought a 444 case tractor and I need to know if you can put a mower deck on it and how do you put power to it. I also have a front end loader for this tractor but aI don't need it. thanks philip

my tractor has a twin cylinder briggs engine and doen't seem to have a pulley on the front of the engine do you think maybe this engine is not the original or has someone perhaps taken the pully off. I'm puzzled. Does the pully mount on the flywheel. thanks philip

Philip,

Just a little info, I have a Simplicity after years with Case/Ingersoll. Its got a 20HP Briggs Vangard. Simplicity upped the mower to 54" on the model I currently have and switched to a Koehler 23 HP. I know my 20 horse briggs doesn't have the power that my 18 Onan did on my old 448. Realize that some is in the drive train but all in all still doesn't quite have the power. By the way the 444 never had a loader attached as standard equiptment from Case, only the 646 was a standard loader tractor and when I was still running Ingersoll they could put mowers on those units.

Thanks

Your tractor came with 16-6.50-8 rib front tires. (not tri ribs like on farm tractors) Yes your tractor will pull a mower. You may consider a Hydraulic driven mower since the motor has been upscaled. The original manual clutch pack on the K321 kohler that was originally on your tractor costs about $500.00 new.(in case you were wanting to go back original) They were attached to a pto shaft coming out the front (flywheel) end of the engine. Does your tractor have a Hydraulic oil cooler in the grill? The pto shaft had a fan on the end which pulled air through the oil cooler. This should be a major concern, because heat and dirt are the only things that will hurt these hydro drives. Driving a loader or a mower will generate a lot more heat. For more info go to Yahoo clubs for Case Garden Tractors. Lots of help there.
