My 580D hoe does not have enough power to dig out a 3" tree stump. The boom is also weak, it will barely lift itself up. Power to the loader works fine. Can someone help? Thanks.

The o-ring in the power beyond valve is leaking. On the right side of the loader control valve you will notice an elbow that connects to a hydraulic line that goes to the backhoe valve. Remove this elbow and replace the oring. Good luck and happy diggin.

If everything is week on backhoe: bucket, dipper, boom & stabilizers. I'll guess broken spring in backhoe main relief valve...Dennis.....

Could be your hydraulic fluid is leaking pass your pistons inside your cylinders. Or your orings are shot on your safety valve inside your control valve. Might disconnect a line and put a pressure gauge on it to see how much is coming out. Should be around 2000 psi. If you don't come close to that, you know your problem could be in the control valve or pressure regulator.

Does anyone know where I can get the Case 580D service manual. I have had no luck trying to find a good used one. Any help appreciated.

Geo, did you try your local CASE dealer? I'm sure they can order the service manual for you. Good luck.

Be sure the supplement is included. The supplement covers more on how the hydraulics are tested. An example is when testing the backhoe hydraulics you need to place the steering over relief to see if the backhoe releif pressure increases, if the pressure increases, no problem, if it stays the same, check steering circuit for proper operation by trouble shooting the relief pressure of the steering circuit and then on to the steering priority valve. When these units first came out in 83 they were a real challenge to troubleshoot after the ol' C.
