Help!!! I was driving the tractor when the transmission locked up. After opening it up, I found a piece of plastic that looked like it might have been a bushing, wedged between range drive gear. I looked in the manuel and can't find where it came from. I can't find where it came from in the transmission either. Anyone know anything about this??? Thank you.

Earl, Check for a plastic oil slinger down in the lower front part of the transmission, used to find a lot of them broken. Al

Hi Earl, Don't know about the 400 but 300 series has a plastic speedometer drive gear in the transmission. Joe

Which 400 are you working on? Check the reverse idler shaft very close. I have taken plastic parts off that shaft in a 930. I don't know if they had plastic in a 400 or not.

WHat color is the plastic and how thick is it. From my work on other tractors I have not seen much for plastic in the trans rear ends. Did it work after you removed i t.
