Recently bought a 970 case. Was moving big bales this week-end with bale spike on 3 pt. Is the hydraulic's naturally slow on this machine or do I need to look for a problem. Fluid level in site glass is goood. It raised the bale without any problem but it was real slow.
Thanks in advance

Is it a power shift or 8 speed? There are several things that could cause it to be slow, from leaking seals in clutch packs to leaking cold oil releif valve in the flowdivider to a worn pump.

My Dad has about a '76 970 Case tractor & recently has had a problem with the hydraulic lift (as well as the performance of the tractor). The hydraulics won't lift & has very little pressure. A while back 1 of the lines came loose & spayed oil 20-25'. Now it barely goes 7-10'. He replace the pump, but still the same problem. The oil looks "milky & froths up" (like blowing bubbles through a straw). The tractor runs good as long as it's wound up, but if it's idled down it spits & sputters. I'm sure it could be any 1 of a hundred things, but if you have any ideas, please let me know. If you have any questions you may email me. I'll check with Dad as soon as possible & get the info back to you. Thanks so much for your time. jj

Roy:

Sorry I didn't give you more details. It's a 1976
Case 970 with a Power Shift. Thanks

mike
