I am just finishing up a 25-45 crossmotor and can't figure out the carb setting for starting. I have it running well at 750 rpm but can't start it with the crank to save my neck.Any help is appreciated

Does your crossmotor have the Kingston L-3 carburetor like the 12-20? Do you have the primer cups on the manifold and all the air baffles on it? The 12-20 manual has a whole page right up about priming, opening a crack, crank, close it down, get it to start, then opening it up, scratching a mark on the knob...

I could copy what my manual has in it for you when I get home tonight. Let me know if the carbs the same. How does it sound when it's running? Mines a long ways from that I'm afraid...

the kingston carb has what seems to be an idle and high speed circuit. I cant seem to get enough gas to keep it running while I am cranking it. It seems to run lean when it idles down but runs perfect at light load at 750 rpm. I would appreciate any info about how to start this tractor. I'm going to check for any vacumn leaks.
When I choke it the carburator fills up with gas in two turns but the tractor doesnt seem to flood.
thanks

I sent the 18 STEP starting procedure from the manual. I think number 19 is that you gotta hold your mouth "just right"...

I found the problem. The carb rebuilder connected the drain of the float bowl to the water inlet on the carb. shut that off and starts just fine.
