I have a 1070 with powershift. Last spring, after drilling 60 acres of peas, I cleaned and oiled the drill so I could put it in the shed. When I started the tractor and put it in gear it didn't move. I noticed while drilling peas that the sound the tractor normally makes when the clutch is depressed changed tone and I think I could feel a slight tremble when it was pulling.I changed the transmission filter with no results. I had a mechanic look at it. He removed the the valve assembly on top of the transmission and left with it to clean and inspect it. He returned 2 days later and said that wasn't the problem. He then replaced the assembly and hooked gauges to the trans and checked the pressures while it was running. These were fine and he said the problem was inside and the tractor needed to be split. I've done nothing since. I would appreciate any thoughts on what the problem could be. The tractor was bought new and never abused.

Had a 1570 that did that same thing. Turns out there was a 29 cent key sheared in one of the gears of the hydraulic pump that pumps pressure for the power shift. Ran fine after I bought all those expensive parts(gasket & key)!

Did you have power steering before you fixed it? I was told the 1070 has one hydralic pump that does everything...Thanks.

Sorry about being so long replying. My computer has been down for several weeks. I remember all the hydraulics being very erratic and unstable.

I had problems with my powershift on a case 1070. The hub on the back of the powershift is attached with 6 bolts. All except 1 bolt sheared. This is a weakpoint on the case tractor. I fixed it myself. Cheap to fix if you do-it-yourself, just takes time.

Correction:I spoke with the mechanic today and he said there was no pressure between 2 and 3.
