I have a 57` Case 311 that was my grandfathers small tractor & was opening up a food plot with a two bottom Case/Eagle plow (in good shape) that came w/the tractor & had one heck of a time in some spots opening up the new ground from tire slip. The tractor has 12-28 Goodyear tires w/45 degree bar that are loaded & in fair condition. Most guys run Firestone traction field & road with a 23 degree bar for the tractor pulls around here in northern Mi. Would that be the better choice of tire for myself? Would the 23 degree bar dig faster to get me stuck sooner? The 311 is wide front with triple range transmision that I ran in low & direct drive in second gear with direct seeming to work better for myself on that day. The 311 was advertised as a 3 plow tractor but I had my hands full with plowing two bottoms 6" deep roughly & had a fair amount of tire slip. I would be greatfull for any help or info on the tractor (I was a small child when the tractor was used on the farm in Burt, Mi. & my grandfather has past on many years ago to help with any info on the tractor). Thank you in advance. R.Gainer

I would check the wheel space for the plow, side draft, adjustment. All of these will make this tractor think it is in a tractor pull, and loosing traction. Just a thought.Had the same problem with a 611b .

I would definitly get some weight. I have fluid & wheel weights on the same tractor,,, can plow snow without chains also,, good luck, the 311's a great tractor.

The 300 we had we pulled 3 14's with it and never had problems. This was the narrow front with 13.6 X 34 rubber and fluid in the tires. Do you have fluid in the tires and is the plow scoured up real good? If you change tires go wider.

Is your plow scoured good? What I mean by this is,are the mold boards shiny,or are they rusty? A rusty pow will pull harder than heck. I have a 400 with a 3-14" eagle hitch plow. When I got the plow it was real rusty and pulled like it was a five bottom until I got it shined up. Now it pulls easy.

The tires are loaded & the mold boards have been stored with grease on the face & are shined up. This was the first time the ground has been broke so that could be the problem being as it was wooded 8 years ago. Thank you for the reply's.

If there were trees and brush in there, the roots will stop you in a heartbeat and plug up the plows something fierce. Might be necessary to get a dozer in there with a ripper and take out that stuff first before you try going after it with the 300.
