If anybody has some experience with this model, I would appreciate any comments. What wear points should I look for and the like. This model is the cab version. Thanks in advance for any help!
Bud

i would check the power shift if it has it. and how much blow by there is and if alot then the engine needs to be rebuilt. there a good tractor. ours has alot of blow by but its still runnin good. don't use oil and it was stuck when we got it didn't touch the engine. but the power shift you could say is a weak point and the cranks are weak too.

Buy it!! We had a 76 model uff daa power, quiet cab, no problems, and over 9000 hours. My dad traded it for a 2090, 2 days later he went to buy it back and it was sold, he says that he'll never forgive himself.

I have a neighbor that has one he bought new. He is 92 years old (yes ninety two) and he won't let his son or grandson drive HIS tractor. It doesn't have a cab so I can't tell you if it was good or not.

The 1070 is a very nice machine. Ours was bought new in 75 and has always been a great tractor. Ours is a standard shift. Never at a loss for power.

I think I was about 16 yrs old when our neighbor who I helped part time who had a 100head dairy farm got that big 1070. What a work horse then and now.For not being turbocharged she could put out 130hp and work with the best out there and still can.I think the only problem that it ever had was a broken ring and pinion and our other neighbor put 2 of themin his JD articulated that is only a yr old.

Thanks for the input guys! This particular tractor has 7000 hours total with 500 hours on a complete overhaul. There are no mechanical problems, no leaks, and the tractor appears to be in great shape. The gentleman selling it is simply not using it anymore due to his age I suspect. Thanks again!
