Case SC DC Tire Questions

Hi All,

Now that I own a '49 DC-3 project tractor as well my '49 SC, I thought I might as well ask my first DC related question to the group-

The tractor currently is without any usable tires, so I'm going to need to be able to roll it around while I work at getting it unstuck and running.

What I (think) I know so far is that SC tractors have a 9" wide, 38" diameter rim, and use a 12.4X38 tire. DC tractors have an 11" wide, 38" diameter rim and use a 13.6X38 tire.

So...I've got two tire questions I'm hoping that somebody can help me with:

1) I have a spare set of used 12.4X38 tires. Can I mount them on the 11" wide DC rim, or will they not work?

2) If the answer to question #1 is no... then I can I mount my spare set of 9" SC rims onto the DC tractor hubs?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards, -Schotte

Mike, the 12.4 tires on the 11" rim will work fine. If you look closely at a new Titan 12.4x38 tire, it says "on 11" rim" right on the tire. Otherwise mounting tires on rims that are wider than suggested, is an old tractor pulling trick. I gets a slightly wider & flatter track onto the ground.

Hi Bruce,

Thank you for the info- I appreciate it.

I'm still curious if anybody knows whether or not you can mount the 9" wide SC rims onto a DC.

Regards,

-Schotte

yes, a sc rim will bolt onto a dc center. if you measure the diameter of the cast iron centers you will see that they are the same. i am running sc rims on a 52 dc that were streached to 11". the d series is my favorite so if you have any more questions, i will be glad to help.
