I own a Case 1030, year 1969, diesel CK Draft-O-matic. The PTO engage/disengage lever pops out of the floor to the left of the seat. I dont know if this is how all 1030's are or what. Anyway, to engage it, you really have to yank up hard on the lever thing to get it to stay engaged. Is it supposed to be this hard to engage PTO? If not, please tell me how to make it engage easier. Thanks.

Sounds like the pto clutch is adjusted to tight. Get a manual, the adjustment procedure is not that difficult. Try to avoid "snatching" until you adjust it, the operating collars are bronze and won't take much abuse. There's always the possibility the clutch discs are worn and someone overtightened it to prevent slippage.

Drop me a line if I can help you further!
