I have a 1950 Case SC. When I crank it the carburator immediately floods, i.e. gas runs out the weep hole. I think it floods so quickly that the engine doesn't have time to try to start. I don't think the float valve is sticking, I only get gas out the carb when cranking the tractor. Any ideas about what might be wrong would be appreciated.

The way I start my 49 SC is to lean over and open the gas valve at the sight-glass then crank. My SC leaks gas at the carb and according to my uncle it has done the same since it was new.
After turning off the engine I lean over again and close the valve. One other point some of the folks on this list have had better success with autolite plugs instead of champion.

Will the tractor not start? Do the spark plugs have gas on them? Are the plugs firing? Mine always seems to pull a little excess gasoline out of the carb when you are trying to start it. I also drips a little after it shuts down.

No, the tractor will not start. The plugs are not soaked with gas. I wonder if I am even getting gas to the cylinders. I pulled a plug and can see it sparking when I crank the engine. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just cause gas runs out does not mean the engine is flooded. Thats one thing a Case wants when you are trying to start it is GAS. If the plugs are dry its not flooded. CHOKE the crap out of it and try it again. If the plugs still don't get wet then you can look for an intake leak.

I would check to see if there is a hole in the float. If that is ok make sure needle valve is seating properly.
