Dear Bill, The Egging Co. did do these conversions, as did the Detroit Diesel Engine Division. There were probably a few others, also, that did this conversion. I would say that they are fairly rare, as you don't see too many of them. The information that I have, shows that you could convert several kinds, of tractors, with this engine. The Case LA, seems to be the most popular conversion, though.

Happy Tractoring, Ken

The Egging Company is still in business. They make parts now for Cat. They did make Ag cabs and than moved to Fiat Ellis Cabs and Cat D-8 & D-9 Rops. I welded for them from 73 to 82. Ted and John Egging (Ted founded the Co. and John his bro. was President for a number of years.) have passed away and Ted's Son, Ted Jr. is now president and several of his other sons work for the company. I believe they still have the first LA they put the GM engine in. it also has the first Cab they made.

I had this L a few years back, ended up selling it on Ebay, to a Man in New York. I believe these were built by Egging Company of Gurley, Nebraska. I think the L would be very rare, However there has been a few LA's pop up. My Father had a nice LA with 4-71 in it.
