Hi I remember ploughing and discing with DB 990`s and 995 before the days of Q cabs. And the transmission used to get so hot it could burn your hand and on one occassion i melted a hole in my Nora wellington boots. The temp went up under heavy traction and was quite normal. Hope this answers your question. Regards Jimc

My 1290 used to do the same thing. Turned out to be the clutch. Used to get so hot your shoes would stick to the tractor.

Check your 3 point hitch raise lever. Raise it all the way up and listen to see if the hitch system goes on relief. Inch it ahead to see if it quietens out. You may have the control valve assembly relief valve creating the heat. Watch your tach and see if the rpm changes when you move the lever ahead from full back position.
