Car wheels on front... I think I know why.

1952 SC - "Randy" got back to me saying the stock wheels are quite heavy. Could it be that Gramp ran the Buick wheels because they're light and he did a lot of skidding logs and sugaring in Winter. Would that make for a "floating" front end that wouldn't get stuck in the snow?

You'd think that you would want the heavy rims on the front when you do any heavy pulling. I had a 1941 SC that had steel rims on the front instead of the heavy cast ones. Seems to me that Case put these on as an option. Are you sure thes are Buick rims? Another thougt about why your Gramps had the lighter rims on. The solid cast rims are really a bear to move around if you need to fix a flat. Maybe Gramps had these put on so they were easier to handle.
