Please excuse my ignorance but I am cleaning up this little tractor and found that the shift leveron the left side came loose and pulled out. this is not the triple range thats on the right. does the shaft have something to do with the live pto? also can I just split the tractor to re connect the shaft to the fork? if so removing the clutch linkage and case bolts will everything slide out ok? thanks,Gary

Sounds like the roll pin has slid out of its hole. You possibly could replace it by taking the triple range cover off but it would be extremely hard, especially for one who happened to have big hands. I fixed one one time by putting a nail in place of the roll pin and bending the nail over. I could push the nail in in the close space but not the roll pin.It is still in there that way and that was several years ago. The tractor has had a lot of use too.

Hi Gary, assuming you mean a lever that enters the left side of the torque tube near the bottom. It is a throw out lever that operates a multiple plate clutch that is used to engage/disengage drive to the tractor rear wheels and leaving the PTO running in either position. The lever shaft slides into the throw out yoke bore and has a woodruff key (#6) under the right finger and a roll pin (3/16"x1-3/8") under the left finger. Don't know if it can be reinstalled via the top cover due to possible interference of shaft and front of triple range gear train. Seals are Case p/n G10450. Two are reqd installed lip inward one on top of the other.

I will look at the one I have torn apart at the house but you may be able to do it with out spilting. There are 8 bolts holding it together. 2 are under the range cover.

If you can take that lever out and put it back without splitting would you let me know. I need to replace the seal that goes around the lever.
