Need some help Fixing up 1947 VAC which has non adjustable front end. Drag link connects from suspension spindle to steering lever (pointing down position ). When turn steering wheel to right, the front wheels turn left. What to do ?
Am using correct length drag link ( 36 1/2 " ) per old manual. Thanks

There is a left hand and right hand worm gear for wide front or narrow front. I have changed a few in the past. You need to get the proper worm gear set for your application. You need both worm and gear, because they have opposite helix angles. The old gearbox, shaft, and steering wheel shaft should all work. Good Luck Dan

If you took the narrow front off and put on the wide front you have to use a wide front steering gears. The wide and narrow are backwards..

Did you by chance replace the steering worm gear?

No change of worm gear as far as I know.
The steering arm rotates clockwise which causes the wheels to turn in the wrong direction.
Can this be resolved by pointing the steering lever in the upward position and altering the draglink angle and length ? Thanks.

Thanks to all for your insights ! Have resolved the issue by pointing steering link upward & by adding 5" to the drag link, an angle about 10"from each end, & a cross brace. Seems to work ok on this still hardworking farmer. Not pretty , but functional. Regards.
