I came out to start up my 1290 the other day and was greeted by a huge oil slick on the side of the tractor. It is seeping out from under the engine block. Not sure if it is oil or diesel.
Is it just a gasket or something more serious. Nothing I hate more than a greasy tractor.

The one consistency I have found with the Case-DB's is that every seal on them leaks. I've had two dozen of them since the mid 70's and, if you plan to keep one, you get really tolerant of oil seeping. That bottom block seal is one of the worst to fix with a new gasket (the silicone works well).

I always said the David Brown tractor is like a Detroit diesel, if it is not leaking oil something is wrong.

You can put a bead of silicone along the base of the block at the full length. It works for me and is a cheap fix. Otherwise you have to lift the block out and replace the base gaskets.
