I just got a Case DI. It's not running(not stuck either) and it appears to be in pretty good shape.Still painted yellow with U S A markings with bold numbers painted on it. I was told it was a bomb carrier(I presume it towed a dolly of some sort with them on the dolly) the serial # is 4813870DI. I havn't hauled it home yet. the military tag on it says the weight is 5200lbs, but my books say it weighs 7000lbs, Do any of you folks know? Thanks for your help.. Lee (I live in California)

Grandpap had one, I think he paid $250 for it 10-15 years ago...He bought it for the block then decided to restore it instead (then he forgot to drain it and had to patch the block!) Pretty sure that my dad intends to sell it, eventually.

WARNING: they have a killer road gear!

I recently spotted the first one I have saw in a Salvage yard in Amarillo,TX. A very interesting and unique tractor with spring from end. As they are "rare" and would make a NICE oddity I would like to have one myself. As far as weight, dry with no fluid in tires or weights, around 5700-6000. With weights and water, upwards of 7500 is obtainable.

Hi Lee,

I'm not sure what the DI weighs- but I noticed the same weight discrepancy you mentioned when it came time to haul my DC-3 home.

I believe that I read somewhere that the tractor weight is around the 4,500 lb. mark- but that a fully "outfitted" tractor with the cast iron wheel weights and fluid in the tires was around 7,000 lbs.

I could see getting up to around 5,800 lbs... but I've always wondered where the other 1,200 lbs. comes from.

Please post pictures when you get it- as Baggsy & I like seeing the Industrial models (since the Case books seem to give them little attention.)

Happy tractoring! -Schotte

That would be a '44. I'm a long way from an expert but I doubt the machine is much sought after as an item to be collected. Since it's not running but not stuck, I might say somewhere in the $500 to $1000 range but if I was offering, I'd start below that.
Good luck with it. I sure wouldn't mind having it. Wanna transport it to NH? ";^)
