Been hauling corn lately with my 1370, plenty of power, but I cant hardly keep it on the road. It wants to wander from side to side. Ball joints and wheel bearings are tight. Seems worse with the engine at full throttle, idle back and the problem lessens. Is there a flow control or a way to control the pressure to the power steering? Or maybe the problem lies elswhere. It steers very easily, and I didnt notice anything untill I got on the road with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for all the help, found my problem. It was like Lloyd sugested, that the ball joints on the ram end of the steering cylenders were loose. One was looser than the other, and I was able to tighten it up. Will go through these this winter and replace them. I feel kind of foolish about this, because I was only looking at the tie rod ends, and the are pretty tight. Thanks again for the help.

check to see how far you can move the steering wheel before the wheels turn. The wheels should turn almost imedantly, if they don,t have someone watch the cyls and linkage under the eng. pay close att.to the ball joints on the ram end and the ball connector on the tube end, sometimes the nuts that hold them come loose.

I had that trouble with my 1370 a few years back. Seems like at the same time the brakes were real sluggish. I believe we found some junk in that valve that is on the front of the firewall. Cleared up the steering problem and the brakes got better. But also the charge pump in the belly went out about the same time so that may have been the problem.

Pack all of the grease fittings on the front of the tractor full of grease and then drive it down the road. If it helps any, you might have a bad tie rod end or drag link. If not, time to look elsewhere. Also, when you drive across a rough field watch the wheels and see if they wiggle any. The wheels on my 1290 wobbled like a drunk until I replaced both tie rod ends.
