Has anybody got any pictures /photos of 90-94 series tractors from Meltham as they were spec`ed for Canada USA Australia. I ask as i have only ever seen them with the S80 cab here In Scotland. Also was there many sold as I mainly only really see articles on the earlier tractors posted here. I believe the US Air Force operated loads of Meltham built tractors on all their Bases , Is this true? Was the 1694 available ex UK as again i have not seen any export details . Regards Jimc

I worked for a Case dealer in the 80's here in Ontario, there were lots of 90/94 series tractors sold through that dealer. The 90 series had a Sims cab built on the high platform tractor and the 94 series had the same cab as seen over in the UK. The 1694 was never brought here to my knowledge. Only the 1594. The 2094 was the designated 105 horsepower tractor here. There were not too many 1690's sold. There are a few however they would not stand up like the old 970 that they replaced. There were problems with the 1690 here. If it was used for heavy tillage the clutch would not stand up. They were alright if used as a utility tractor. I have a customer that uses a 1690 for seeding, feed wagon and square baler. He has a 2290 for all heavy work. The 1690 he has now has 5500 hours and has not been a bad tractor for him. I don't have any pictures of any though. The Case 1896 later replaced the 1690 at 95 horsepower. They were a real bullet proof tractor.

It is advantageous to have ´hydra - shift`. As I am told the 1694 clutch is the same as the clutch for 1494 or 1394 tractors.
