I was installing my rear hubs on my 1949 Case SC. After putting the hub on the shaft, I drove the key into the wheel and keyway. Grabbed the key for the right side and by gosh, it has a pin pressed into it about 1” from the end. I pulled the other key and its pin has been sheared probably years ago. What is the pin for? I haven’t pulled the hub to see if there is place inside the hub for the pin. Maybe you drive the key in up to the pin and stop there.

Can anybody help?
Randy

The pin is to hold the key to the axle while you slide the hub over it. Speeds up assembly on the line.
