I have a guy trying to sell me a 1942 VC. It is in nice shape. good fenders and all sheet metal even the chrome strips are intact. runs strong. all it really needs is a paint job. Is it worth the 1100.00 he is asking?

Around here I would say that's a reasonable price. (NH)

Might be a little high in our country. BIL & I bought a '41 about 5 years ago for less than $500. It runs, (if you can keep the junk F-B mag working) but has an oil leak. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Yep, that's why we've got a few of 'em. This is basically red & green country-them green ones bring lotsa $, red is gettin there too. Now even the gold & orange ones are getting pricey, although I did see a '52 SC w/good tires go for $900, which was more than a not-too beat up H w/fairly good tires & wide fron on it ($700) on the same sale last fall. I was gonna buy one of them, sold the H first & I thought "Boy, that SC'll go cheap," so I let the H go (I had the next to last bid & they begged for the next one-only two of us in the running)-what a suprise. I just couldn't spend the $900, even if it did have hyd lift. Besides, I had my '54 to fix already then. I figured it'd sell for less than $500. (Another $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Well, I guess I'd have to say this is dorF country in addition to red and green. Those will bring the top dollar for sure. But everything would tend to be higher here. Most people don't know what a Case, MH, AC, Cockshutt or even a Oilallover would be and a MM would be one rare bird. I've only ever seen two in the state.

Kinda strange at how different parts of the country did different things. Fords were not real popular here, although there were a few of 'em. MH, Oliver & MM were not plentiful, but not uncommon either. Lots of AC's & Case, but not as many as red & green. Now "pure" Cockshutt-thats rare right around here, but under the Co-op badge, there were a quite a few of 'em-even a few Farmcrests. The town closest to where I grew up, had a Case & an IH dealer. IH guy sold tractors at least 6 to 1 over the Case guy, but I was about 15 before I knew that anyone besides Case made discs & combines. I don't think the IH guy ever sold one while I was growing up. (Another $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
