i just found my grandfathers 1936 case after he sold it 8 or 9 years ago. a local man bought it and had plans of restoring it and hasn't started it. i called him to ask if he would be interested in selling it back to me. he didn't sound like he wanted to part with it, but did. he can't remember what he bought it for from my grandfather, but is selling it back to me for $600.00. when this man bought the tractor it ran. he said 3 or 4 month's after he got it home and put it inside, the motor froze. does anyone have advice for the motor and the price? well, i would have paid anything to get it back. but, is $600.00 a fair price do you think?

Hi Mike:

It is great that you were able to buy back your grandpa's old tractor. I have my fathers 1952 VA1 Case which he purchased new. Although I don't need the tractor it provides enjoyment giving the grand kids a ride.

Regarding the stuck engine on your tractor. I have found that if you remove the spark plugs and pour in diesel fuel and let it sit for a few days will sometimes do the trick. After letting it sit, then try moving it with the crank or put it in gear and rock it back and forth gently with the rear wheels. If it frees up make sure to work some good engine oil in before you try starting it. You should change the oil before you try starting it.

It took me years to find my father's Model C and buy it back.

There is nothing like a family connection with an old tractor to make it really interesting, even to other family members who would normally have no interest in what they think is 'old junk'

If you have the chance, buy it.

i believe it's a c or rc. still has the iron wheels on the rear and the single in the front.

Mike, if it has the single front wheel it is most likely an RC. Does it have the overhead steering rather than the chicken roost? The overhead is definitely on the RC's.
