I just purchased a case 511-b. I noticed on the serial tag it shows the tractor to be a 511-B-L. Would anyone know what the "L" stands for. I would also be interested in knowing where I could get a hold of a cover for the gas tank and battery.

Tim, I purchased a 511B last year and really enjoy it. Mine has narrow front wheels and I received a lot of compliments at the only show and parade it was in last year. The "B" designation differentiates that series of Case tractors from previous tractors with the same numeric designations. I don't know what the "L" represents.

The "L" stands for low-speed 4th gear. There was an option on the road-gear speed on the b series. I have the access door for the 511b if you have the bolt-on large cover. They measure 8" long I believe. JR

I have driven this tractor in road gear and it goes fast enough for me. However, my Father has a 312b that he sayes will go 26 miles per hour in road gear, so maybe this one is geared a little slower. If you have either of those covers give me a call at 641-927-4470 and I'll call you back
